This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of the Guided Discovery teaching style and the Practice teaching style in learning fundamental basketball skills among physical education students and to determine which approach is more effective in improving skill performance. The study adopted an experimental design involving two experimental groups. The first group was taught using the Guided Discovery style, while the second group was instructed using the Practice style. Pre-test and post-test measurements were conducted to evaluate students' performance in the selected basketball skills. The findings revealed statistically significant improvements in the performance of both groups following the instructional program. However, the Guided Discovery group achieved higher levels of skill improvement than the Practice group, indicating the superiority of this teaching style in enhancing motor learning and promoting active student participation. Although the Practice style effectively improved performance through repetition and continuous feedback, the Guided Discovery approach proved more successful in developing learners' understanding, independence, and decision-making during skill execution. The study recommends incorporating the Guided Discovery teaching style into basketball instruction while utilizing the Practice style in situations requiring mastery of technical performance. It also suggests conducting further comparative studies on different teaching styles across various sports.
