Abstract

Semantic fields is a linguistic term that means the existence of some words that can be linked together in a general meaning that unites them. It is one of the theories of meaning analysis and the most common among language learners. It aims to understand the meaning of words and to know the subtle differences between them، this research will attempt to reread it in light of modern linguistic studies, and will try to employ this modern semantic theory on an old poem by an Abbasid poet, to identify the most prominent semantic fields in the poem, to examine and analyze the vocabulary of each field, and to identify the most important semantic relationships that connect the vocabulary of each field.
