The Role of Nursing in Geriatric Care: A Field Study of Residents at the Massa Nursing Home

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the role of nursing in providing health and psychological care for the elderly at the Nursing Home in "Massa" city. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach, utilizing a questionnaire as a data collection tool. The instrument was structured into main axes (Depression, Dementia, Malnutrition, Pressure Ulcers, and others). The findings revealed an urgent need to appoint specialized nursing staff within the facility to mitigate chronic health complications. The study recommended the activation of continuous nursing care programs and the provision of specialized training for caregivers on managing the psychological and physical disorders of the elderly.
